Facing the Facts

I'm a pretty good writer. At least, I like to think I am. However, reading this blog makes me seriously doubt my abilities. Yet, I know damn well I can write when I'm manipulating other peoples' thoughts and ideas. So why do my own thoughts come out so awkward? Maybe this is what separates the great writers from the good writers.

When I started my blog a couple of years ago, one of the main intentions was to use it as writing practice. For me this meant writing to practice rather than writing to prove - that I was already a great writer. Picasso was a great example - saying in his early 90's after a spectacular career that he was just beginning to learn how to paint. It's all about beginner's mind.

Thanks, Jack. Really and truly I wasn't out to prove I am a great writer--I just thought I might/could be if I practiced. So I resonate with your original intent. Thank you for visiting my page and leaving a comment--I'm honored!
